What is Microneedling?
Medical microneedling of the skin uses the bodies natural healing process to stimulate collagen and elastin production. What does the procedure entail?
For optimal comfort, a numbing cream will be applied to the face 30 minutes prior to the procedure. Before the start of the treatment the numbing cream is removed and a small amount of Hyaluronic acid or PRP is placed on a small area of the skin. The MD Needle Pen is then glided over that area of the face four times cross hatching to get full coverage for optimal rejuvenation. The process is continued until the entire face/area is treated.
What does microneedling feel like?
The MD Needle Pen procedure feels similar to sandpaper being moved across the skin. Expect areas around the eyes and forehead to be a little more sensitive but the short-time discomfort is well worth the results.
How long will a Microneedling take?
Including the application of numbing cream an entire full face procedure will take 45 minutes.
What can expect after the procedure?
Immediately following microneedling expect the skin to be red and flushed, similar to a mild sunburn. Some clients will experience mild swelling, tightness, and pinpoint bleeding which can last 24 – 72 hours. Total healing time depends of the depth of the treatment, skin type and skin condition and one can expect slight peeling and dry skin.
When will results be seen after microneedling?
Patients typically notice an immediate glow within the first few days, but the most visible improvement will take about 2-4 weeks and continue improving for 3 months.
How many treatments will be needed?
A series of 3-4 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart is ideal for optimal results. Some conditions like deep wrinkles advanced photo-aging, stretch marks and acne scars will need 6 – 8 treatments.
